Elusive Silence

Elusive Silence

Tears slip by

slowly stepping down

the cheek

time is no longer day, month or year,

dates drowned in the past,

moments which used to excite

have lost their worth

memories hurt

evoking a million feelings

anguish, fear, betrayal

and then

subside like a wave,

eyes gazing far

trying to hide

flaring thoughts

voices murmur, clash, clutter inside

words said unsaid,

questions, regrets

pain like a vast desert

touches horizon

where shall I run?

peace is a mirage

a picture incomplete

in a cracked mirror

deluded, confused;

outside

silence prevails

terse, calm, misunderstood

somewhere

deep inside

silence is a flattering illusion.
